corona 60sp-tuning keys

Postby barry » Thu Jan 28, 2010 4:38 pm

Hi
Anyone out there have a problem with setting up the gotoh hapm tuners on re-stringing?

I had to swap the guts of two of these units around to stop the string slipping out tuning-up.
Almost thought I would need a single tuner replacement to remedy
any feedback??

Hi Barry, Mike here at Fret King, sorry you've had problems, but a bit surprised.
Gotoh are mega reliable on their hardware, that's why we use their parts.
It could be a setup issue on the tuners, although providing the guitar has not been messed with between here and you, you shouldn't normally get any issues.

For correct adjustment with the string taken off -

1. Screw down the slotted top section of the post using a coin or better still, a wide bladed flat screwdriver that fits the slot without twisting.

2. Release the rear allen locking screw via the hole in the casing of the machine head using a 1.5mm allen key.

3. Screw the post in or out to desired height from the front of the headstock.

4. Re-lock the allen locking screw.

5. Release the lock down slotted top section and restring.

When putting new strings on it is best to make sure the string moves freely through the hole, pull the string tight (no windings around the post),
then tighten the string using the tuning key. All being well, the string will be gripped by the tuning key and should pull up to pitch.
An additional tweek on the top locking slot can be done to ensure the strings lock, but is not really required.
