Lipstick Pickup

Postby hillbilly deluxe » Mon Dec 07, 2009 12:45 pm

I have an Italia Modulo Tipo 3 that i purchased about one year ago from Sound Control in Glasgow, they have since went out of business.
I think that this bass is excellent, both in playability and sound. My problem is,one of the four pickups has died, and i would like to find an exact replacement.I have tried searching on the web but can't find one,and do'nt want to fit another brand of pickup,as i do'nt want to alter the sound. Are they available ?
I have had my local repair man check the bass out,and he has confirmed that is not a "dry joint" or loose wire.

Hi, I've just checked with Trev and we don't have any spares here as we don't use them on Fret King guitars.
However this pickup was used on the Zip range of guitars - http://www.jhs.co.uk/zip.html
Your best bet would be to contact JHS spares department, they should be able to supply one for you, or order one in.
If you don't get anywhere with it, lets us know!

I have contacted JHS,and they asked me to send them the guitar to check over to advise of any faults.I know what the fault is,one of the pickups does not work,as confirmed by my guitar tech. They woul;d not tell me where i could get a replacement pickup from.
All i need is to find a replacement pickup, somewhere, and i can fit it myself.
As you will appreciate, due to the positioning of the pickups in this bass,it is unuseable as it sits now, which is a shame as it's such a great bass to play.I am,however really dissapointed that after only one year, this bass is unuseable.

Hi
Of course , that's a pain and you need the bass sorting out.
Is it still under guarantee? JHS would be able to sort it if so, however I can see their point about sending it back.
Sometimes companies don't trust a player to have any repair skills! Which again, is a pain for you.

So don't worry, leave it with me and we will certainly sort you something out to get your bass working again.
Trev is away (as are a lot of JHS at the moment) at the NAMM show in the USA, so it may take a little while for
me to try and sort something for you, but don't worry!

cheers
Mike (Whamster/Fret King)
